Dimensional Consistency
One
of the most critical features of a ceramic cartridge is the dimensional
consistency, including roundness, concentricity, and wall thickness.
Performance Consistency
Performance
is commonly evaluated by flow rate and microbiological retention.
Marathon Filters takes every step to verify the performance of
the ceramic media. In order to consistently remove microorganisms
and meet claims, it is important to have a narrow pore size distribution
and to test regularly. Marathon's process is verified by 100%
testing, maintaining a narrow pore size distribution. Marathon
utilizes computer automated quality control testing for flow
rate, structural integrity and homogeneity, and pore size distribution.
You can be confident that Marathon's claims are verified and
that the product is consistent from order to order.
Pore Size/Flow Rate
The
0.2 micron pore size is optimized for superior microbiological
performance, including bacterial retention (greater than 6 log
reduction of Klebsiella terrigena at end of life). The 0.9 micron
pore size has a higher flow rate and is designed to remove protozoa
cysts and reduce turbidity.
Nano-Silver
For
international applications, Marathon offers exclusive Nano-SilverTM technology for enhanced bacteriastatic
performance throughout the ceramic media. Nano-Silver filter
elements are unique with multiple safety features, preventing
potential disease causing germs from growing throughout the ceramic
medium, even after years of continual use.
Carbon Block Inserts
Marathon
offers optional carbon block inserts available in the core of
our ceramic cartridges. Carbon can be selected to reduce VOC
(volatile organic compounds) or lead.
End Caps
Marathon
offers both popular ¼" BSP threaded and double open
end (DOE) end caps for industry standard 10" cartridges.
Credibility
Marathon
Cartridges are used all over the world to treat water of unknown
quality, including backpacking and emergency/survival and home
point-of-use markets. Years of field performance and independent
laboratory tests validate the efficacy of the ceramic filters.

Proven Performance
Marathon
cartridges have been used by Mountain Safety Research, in portable
water filters with a long track record of excellent performance
in extreme conditions including backcountry and water of unknown
quality. Several world reknown NGO's and emergency disease relief
organizations have relied on Marathon's proven performance.
Testing Philosophy
We
test to assure consistent performance. The tests are not designed
to be easy to pass. The tests challenge the filters in worst
case situations throughout the life of the filter media, not
just when it is fresh and new. The testing is to validate real-world
performance. Marathon's products have been repeatedly tested
under worst case conditions, using live microorganisms and actual
field water. When you use Marathon cartridges in your water filter,
you can be confident in our claims.
When
considering ceramic water filters for your application, you can
be assured that Marathon will provide the best solution, with
credibility, flexibility, reliability, and integrity. |
