Key
Benefits of Marathon Filters
Small Pore Size.
The
pore size determines the minimum particle size which the product
will effectively retain. The Marathon Ceramics media was developed
to remove micro-organisms down to 0.2 microns in their smallest
dimension.
Narrow Pore
Size Distribution. The
range of pore sizes in the ceramic must be narrow. If it is too
large, the filter will not achieve the necessary efficiency at
the rated particle size or the pressure drop will be excessive.
Consistency. The manufacturing process is very tightly
controlled and provides for minimal piece to piece variation.
Cleanability. The media can be cleaned multiple times
and thus provides cost-efficient filtration.
Precision. The extrusion manufacturing process, developed
originally by Marathon Ceramics, produces a component with very
tight tolerances on all of its dimensions.
Life Indication. The tight manufacturing tolerances on
wall thickness and outside diameter permit the use of a gauge
to indicate when minimum wall thickness has been reached.
Credibility. Against a background of successful application
of this technology in the demanding backpacking and survival
market, the product has extensive field experience as well as
laboratory verification of its efficacy, durability and suitability
for drinking water applications.
Price. For the first time, there is a high performance
ceramic priced for the consumer market.
